So.
Here we are. Hello.
This is the first post of what I hope will be many, taking a look into travelling around the world, seeing its sights and its people.
I am, as the site's name suggests, a casual traveller. I don't travel extensively for work (unless you count two nights in Ashby-de-la-Zouche in Leicestershire as travel), and I am not a 'professional traveller' like say, Non-Stop Dan or Sam Chui from YouTube.
That being said, I love travelling, seeing the world and meeting new people in the places I visit just as much as they do, so I thought it would be useful to compile those thoughts, notes and pictures together for anyone read this, and here it is.
There are some minor caveats, of course. Because I travel within the limits of my job/annual leave allowance and financial capabilities, I won't be posting on here with incredible frequency though I am always on the hunt for Avios, so there might be a few posts and links in between trips showing people how to maximise their points to redeem on flights.
On the topic of caveats and of Avios, I usually fly with oneworld airlines, mainly British Airways - hence the furious Avios collection. That means it'll be unlikely (but not impossible) that I'll be flying on say, Delta or Emirates flights, as they aren't part of the oneworld alliance.
Additionally, unlike professional travel bloggers, I don't (and can't) always fly in the most premium cabins. More often than not, I'll be in various Premium Economy or Business cabins (if I can find a good deal, something else I'll post about regularly), so the First Class thought-pieces might be countable on one hand over the space of like, a decade. But who knows. Those BA Amex companion vouchers can provide all sorts of avenues!
Finally, I will also post retrospective musings on previous trips along with a few photos, to get a vibe going and see how it works.
So anyway, yeah. This is it. It'll evolve and change over time.
I hope the stuff I post is found to be useful!
Cheers :)
Hi Just saw the post on TLFL. I like the style and content - well done. As it happens we did the same Tier Point event as you this year; this together with a short term holiday to Seville with BA has enabled us to hold on to Silver.
I agree with you re the Qatar lounges. We found BKK to be so much better than Doha which was rammed when we arrived. BKK feels like a business lounge should with great quality across the board and a relaxed and upscale feel to it.
